Prompt: How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation.

 Prompt:
The movie creates a more personal connection to Chris. It tells his backstory in flashbacks and this helps the audience understand his motivations at each critical stage in his journey. One key difference is that the movie does a better job of highlighting how Chris attempted to go back to civilization, but realized he could not pass the river. This is like seeing people in real life when one has only heard about them makes them seem more personal.

Summary:
Today in class we read chapter 13.

Reflection:
I preferred reading the story on my own.
