Prompt: In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).
Prompt:
I spent my holiday break spending time with my grandparents in Germany. I enjoyed the time I spent with them because I don't get to see them very much. I liked cooking with my grandmother and making traditional German meals.
Summary:
Today in class we set goals for the new year.
Reflection:
I think setting goals is important for growth.
1. My first goal is to get my driver's license. This goal is important to me because I would be able to drive myself to basketball practice over the summer as I intend to play in the summer league at Lakeside. To accomplish this goal, I will ask my parents to drive whenever I go somewhere that they would usually drive me. On the weekends, I will drive for at least an hour as I will have more time then. I aim to complete this goal by the end of this school year so that I can drive in the summer.
2. My second goal is to get a job as a lifeguard this summer. This goal is important to me because I will be able to earn money and gain valuable job experience. To accomplish this goal, I will find out where I can fill out an application and make time to go to the interview. I will also try to get a recommendation from my brother as he had this job in the past. I plan to accomplish this goal by the summer so that I will have a job by then.
3. My third goal is to weigh 190 pounds by next basketball season. This goal is important to me because a lot of my weaknesses in basketball are based on not being strong or physical enough, and weighing more would help with that. To accomplish this goal, I will try to increase my protein intake by incorporating more protein rich foods into my diet. To gain 15 pounds, I will try to gain a pound roughly every week until I weigh 195 pounds, and then lose 5 pounds so that I feel lighter for the basketball season.
4. My fourth goal is to get at least an 85 on every math test this semester. This goal is important to me because I struggled in math at the end of last semester and want to feel more confident in my math skills. To accomplish this goal, I will try to pay attention more to my math teacher as I sometimes zone out in class when she talks too much. I will try to maintain a good sleep schedule as I have math near the beginning of the day so feeling awake would help my performance. This will be an ongoing goal that will end at the end of the school year when grades are finalized.
