What did you do over the break?

 Prompt:
I spent most of the break playing basketball and preparing for tryouts today. I went to a basketball camp and went to the gym a lot so that I could practice my shot and work on my game sense. I tried to do some strength training as well. This past weekend I visited my brother in college.

Summary:
Today in class I worked on a comic strip for the new vocab words.

Reflection:
I think this is a good way to learn the words.

 Prompt: My mother has been the strictest when it comes to discipline. Her approach to discipline is more based on how she is feeling at the time. Summary: The Rockpile is about a boy who is disobedient and ends up injuring himself. Reflection: This makes me think about how my parents disciplined me.

 Prompt: A time I felt connected to nature was this summer when I went on vacation to Grand Teton National Park. This was the first time that I had seen huge animals up close as bison lined the sides of the road and moose drank at many of the lakes. The top of Grand Teton itself seemed to never draw any closer, no matter how far we hiked. The largeness of everything in the park made me feel how insignificant a human is compared to the vastness of nature, but it also made me feel how important it is to protect it. Summary: Today we took notes about Native American literature and different types of stories. Reflection: I learned what the components of an origin myth are.
